TeamDME FAQ: How to Print an Open Balance Statement

Up

How can I print a Patient Statement showing everything in an Open-Balance format?

The standard format of the Patient Statement is similar to a credit card statement. If shows everything that has transpired during the statement date range, including charges, nonallowed adjustments, payments and other adjustments. With several payers and several line items on a typical statement, this can be overwhelming for some patients.

To use the new form, follow these steps:

  1. Right-Click HERE and select "Save target As..." or "Save link As..." to download the Open-Balance Form and save it to your computer.  When your browser asks you want you want to do click SAVE and save it to your TeamDME! data directory (to find out what the folder is, right-click on your TeamDME! icon and select properties.  Next, click on the Program tab.  Look for the "Working" line.  that's where you want to save the file to).

  2. Once you've saved the file, close your web browser and log into TeamDME!.

  3. Once in TeamDME!, hold down the ALT key and hit the F10 key at the top of the keyboard.  This should put you at a DOS prompt, inside your data directory.

  4. Type the following command to create a backup of your standard statement:  copy statemnt.frm *.old and hit ENTER  Ideally, it should say "1 File copied"

  5. Next, type: copy statemnt.top  *.frm and hit ENTER.  When asked if you want to override the existing file answer Y and hit ENTER again.  It should also save "1 file copied"

  6. Type exit and hit ENTER one more time.  That'll put you back into TeamDME!.  Now, print your statements.
